π Description
The ASEAN IVO Call for Proposals 2026 supports collaborative ICT research projects that address regional needs and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG principles, and carbon neutrality. The program funds ICT-based projects that combine core research and practical real-world application, with an expectation of demonstration by the final year.
Projects must involve at least two institutions from two different ASEAN countries and should aim to provide innovative solutions to social, environmental, or technological challenges in the ASEAN region.
Projects begin April 2026.
π Scope of Interest
1. ICT for Food
Food security, supply chain, agriculture, environment; ICT applications and integrated systems from production to waste management
2. ICT for Environment Protection & Disaster Prevention
Environmental monitoring; Disaster prevention, response, and infrastructure resilience; Practical systems & applications
3. ICT for a Secure & Smart Community
Smart cities, urbanization challenges; Social adaptation, cultural differences; Cybersecurity and cyberspace technologies
4. ICT for Health and Welfare
Health crises, pandemics, infectious diseases; Technologies for elderly care; Systems to support overburdened health infrastructures
5. ICT for Inclusive Digital Services & Governance
Digital inclusion, accessibility, affordability; Mobile-friendly, multilingual services; Data privacy, governance, digital transformation
6. ICT-related Technologies & Applications
Advanced manufacturing, IoT, AI/GenAI, robotics, blockchain; 4IR technologies and applications
β³ Project Duration
– 6 to 24 months
– Projects >12 months will undergo a mid-term review by the Steering Committee.
π° Funding & Financial Benefits
Maximum: USD 40,000 per project per year
Notes:
– Budget allocation may change depending on NICTβs fiscal year budget.
– Only ASEAN institutions can receive NICT budget support.
– Personnel expenses cannot be included (NICT funds do not cover salaries).
– Matching funds from institutions or other grants are encouraged and will be given extra evaluation points.
ποΈ Eligibility
– Applicant institution must be an ASEAN IVO member
(Non-members may apply but must obtain membership before the submission deadline)
– Project team must include at least 2 institutions from 2 different ASEAN countries
– Japanese institutions (e.g., NICT) may join but do not count toward the 2-country minimum
– Team members must provide a Certificate Letter confirming authorization
– Project leaders of ongoing projects cannot submit new proposals
– Researchers may join a maximum of two projects
